Applause Outdoors 212 News
The PANeK / Applause commission for Applause Outdoors 212 has been awarded to Nottingham-based company, Polymathematics for PuppIT and DigIT – two Banraku-style puppets fitted with touch-screens in their “faces” and “chests”. PuppIT and DigIT will have their own individual characters and relate to each other through non-verbal performance. They will also interact with audiences, who will be able to use the touch screens to instantly make and upload their own content – text, photos, sound, video. This content will not only influence future content of the puppets but also feed to a website. We look forward to seeing audiences all over Kent and East Sussex interacting with PuppIT & DigIT for an utterly compelling and memorable experience.
Applause Outdoors 212 is joint project of PANeK and Applause Rural Touring. It will deliver contemporary outdoor performances at as many as 60 community events during summer 2012. Applause Outdoors 212 will place performances:
• at village fetes and similar events
• with our partners, Fuse Festival (Medway) and Deal Festival
• at events related to London 2012 and the Olympic Torch journey
The project is also developing the work of six Kent-based companies, Accidental Collective, Dizzy O’Dare Presents, Galloping Cuckoos, The Honk Project, Little Cauliflower Theatre and Parr and Rosenfeld (see Applause Outdoors 212 section for more information)
