The Galloping Cuckoos
Driftwood
A group of fisher-women roam the coast, hauling their small fishing hut, made of worn, splintered driftwood, rusty timber and sailcloth. They seek places to drop anchor and connect with the locals – to share their sea stories through choral song, old folk tunes and live music.
Dressed in bold, bright fisher-folk outfits - the fisher-women will encourage the audiences to write down their “worries or wishes” and store them in a bottle leaving a piece of intimate knowledge for the women to cherish and keep. In return, the women will sing a personal sea shanty, encouraging audience members to “cast away their worries and haul in their dreams”. Driftwood is a funny and nostalgic piece of interactive outdoor theatre suitable for all.
Driftwood is supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England
