Spread The Love
Spread The Love is a walkabout piece exploring sensory responses to the question “What is Love?” Is it the cheese on the toast, the cherry on the cake, the pink and fluffy or the warm feeling inside? The love is spread by the living “love machines” – two halves of a single heart – who ask participants to use all five senses to explore the question of love.
Participants peep though a peephole in the love machine’s hat and watch a short animated film; they listen to the cheesiest and most moving love-songs from around the world through gloved hands placed over their ears; they touch fluffy, furry, warm and cold in the love machine’s feely pockets; they taste (and read) nostalgic love-heart sweets and they smell the love on prepared cards which they take away as a keepsake. There is a choice of sensory experiences, so each participant has a unique interaction – and watching a participant’s reaction is a performance for other intrigued onlookers.
